Three years into your digital automation program, you still have a six-month backlog of broken bots. How to move without the risk

Do not rip out all RPA at once. Start with one high-pain process where the UI changes often or the process is documented as an SOP. Run a pilot with a computer use agent to measure its ability to follow the SOP, recover from errors, and complete the task end-to-end. Compare the time to implement and maintain against your current RPA approach. If the agent meets your quality and reliability thresholds, expand to other changing processes. Keep RPA where it still makes sense: high-volume, stable, backend transactions. Treat computer use agents as an additional automation capability, not a complete replacement.
